Service Manager — Savage, MN

RMS, a distributor of heavy construction equipment is seeking a Service Manager for our Savage, MN location to lead its Service Department and the Service Technicians within to ensure overall satisfaction for its customers.

Reporting to the VP of Southern Operations, qualified candidates will be responsible for the Management and/or Supervision of the following functions:

  • Scheduling of service and repairs of all equipment, housekeeping, and security.
  • All shop equipment maintenance and repair, housekeeping and security.
  • New and used equipment preparation along with warranty repairs, and Rental/Lease fleet equipment.
  • Safety and Environmental compliance programs, including Technician training paths.
  • Management of entire Service Dept. Staff
  • Full P&L responsibility and the department’s achievement of key financial matrixes.

Expectations include enforcement of RMS policies and procedures, maintaining excellent customer relations, while also maintaining a high degree of employee morale. Experience in planning short and long term management objectives and promoting and supporting OSHA and EPA compliance standards are required.

Machinist (Manual) – Savage, MN

Road Machinery & Supplies Co., A distributor of Heavy Construction Equipment located in Savage, MN is expanding its Hydraulic Services division, and is seeking a Manual Machinist who can operate effectively while managing multiple tasks at once to join their team.  In this position, you will work closely with the Shop Supervisor to plan, set up, adjust and determine operating sequences on work having close and exact tolerances, unusual contours, several dimensional relationships and finish specifications.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge in selecting tooling attachments, spindle speeds, tool feed rates, work piece securing methods, supports, etc., best suited for nature of operations and size of work piece.
  • Calibrate tool heads to orient tools and work-piece to reference point, while also using care to ensure setting assure travel clearances and avoid tool deflection, which could affect dimensions and finishes.
  • Adjust machines during operations for feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to obtain required finish and dimensional specifications.
  • Use a wide range of precision measuring instruments and devices to set up, operate machine and check work.
  • Work to specific job instructions and providing status of where they are within the repair process.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form in the English Language.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Painter:

  • Industrial painting including abrasive blasting and spray painting with conventional and airless equipment. Minimum one year of experience.
  • Mixing and application of paints and other industrial coatings per customer and company specifications.
  • Understanding of coatings, applications over other paints and surfaces, cure time, temperature, humidity, and film thickness requirements.
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical documents, paint specifications, coating product data sheets, and related SDS.
  • Capable of spraying uniform thickness without sags, runs, or overspray.
  • Familiar with the proper use and maintenance of supplied air breathing systems.

RMS is seeking to add an additional Field Service Supervisor position at its Corporate Headquarters, reporting to the Service Manager.

  • Read and interpret project plans, blueprints and other written instructions, diagrams, and verbal instructions to perform assigned tasks correctly.
  • Select appropriate tooling and machines to perform machining jobs.
  • Perform cutting operations using manual lathes, milling machines, grinders, and line boring machines.

RMS, a distributor of heavy construction equipment is seeking a Service Manager for our Sioux CityIowa location to lead its Service Department and the Service Technicians within to ensure overall satisfaction for its customers.

Reporting to the General Service Manager, qualified candidates will be responsible for the Management and/or Supervision of the following functions:

  • Scheduling of service and repairs of all equipment, housekeeping, and security.
  • All shop equipment maintenance and repair, housekeeping and security.
  • New and used equipment preparation along with warranty repairs, and Rental/Lease fleet    equipment.
  • Safety and Environmental compliance programs, including Technician training paths.
  • Management of entire Service Dept. Staff

Experience in planning short and long term management objectives and promoting and supporting OSHA and EPA compliance standards are required.

Resident Field Service Technician – Fort Dodge, IA

RMS is seeking an experienced Construction or Ag Field Service Technician to reside within the ten (10) counties in NE Iowa. In this position, you will work within a close proximity of your residential area and will be equipped with a field service truck. This position will work in conjunction with our Des Moines, Iowa facility and will report to the Des Moines Service Manager.

The ideal candidate will have five (5) years’ experience as a Field Service Technician for an OEM heavy equipment distributor. This position requires exceptional skills in hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting, and repair of heavy construction equipment. RMS desires employees that can build and maintain solid customer relationships, are self-directed, and can demonstrate safe working habits. A strong work ethic along with the ability to work outside in the elements are also required.

In this role, you will be the service repair contact of RMS for the customers you serve in your geographic area, but may also be dispatched to other geographic areas as needed. You will be responsible for a high standard of quick response time to customers, and will be required to have a high sense of urgency in prioritizing customer repairs.

You must possess a CDL driver’s license with a clean driving record, the ability to pass a drug test, background check, and fitness for duty physical. General computer and paperwork processing skills are also essential in this position.
